The Browser-based research workflow is a method for gathering web-based research directly into a personal knowledge base like [[Obsidian]] by utilizing a specific browser extension and keyboard shortcuts^[600-developer-tools-chrome-roam-highlighter.md].

Procedure

This workflow relies on the Roam-Highlighter tool, which allows users to capture multiple text segments from a webpage before pasting them^[600-developer-tools-chrome-roam-highlighter.md].

  1. Activate the tool: Press Alt+X to enter Roam-Highlighter mode^[600-developer-tools-chrome-roam-highlighter.md].
  2. Capture content: Select the desired text and press Ctrl+X. This action removes the text from the view and queues it for export^[600-developer-tools-chrome-roam-highlighter.md].
  3. Multi-select: Continue selecting additional text on the same page, pressing Ctrl+X for each segment^[600-developer-tools-chrome-roam-highlighter.md].
