Multi-selection text capture

Multi-selection text capture is a workflow utility feature designed to streamline the process of gathering excerpts from web pages. Instead of repeatedly switching between a browser and a note-taking application, this method allows a user to queue multiple selections for a single, unified paste action.^[600-developer-tools-chrome-roam-highlighter.md]

Workflow

The standard procedure for using this capture method involves the following steps^[600-developer-tools-chrome-roam-highlighter.md]:

  1. Activation: Initiate the specific highlighter mode using the keyboard shortcut Alt+X.
  2. Selection and Capture: Highlight the desired text on the webpage. Instead of a standard copy command, use Ctrl+X to cut and queue the text into the tool's buffer.
  3. Repetition: Navigate to other parts of the webpage and repeat the selection and Ctrl+X process to add additional items to the queue.
  4. Pasting: Once all desired excerpts are collected, switch to the target application (such as Obsidian) and press Ctrl+V to paste all captured selections simultaneously.
